Rainy day at the campground 10/2/18

10/7/2018

Today was the day I was going to go to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, which is where most people go when they go to the Grand Canyon. There was rain forecast for the entire day, and in the morning I wasn’t sure I wanted to deal with that – both in terms of having to break down the camper in the rain, and viewing the canyon in the rain. I decided I’d wait to see what I felt like doing later, and as later came, I kept not feeling like going out in the rain. So I didn’t. I bunked in with Marty Kristopher Robin, worked on my blog, did some reading and some service for one of my 12 step program’s Literature Committee.

BTW, this was the first rainy day of the entire 6 weeks! So I felt pretty grateful for that. There were definitely other days when it rained, but this was the first entire day of rain.

In the evening it stopped raining for a while and I went out for a walk because I needed to! As per usual, these pictures just don’t do justice to the beauty of the sky that night.

I took this picture of the bunny rabbit for Liz, because she’s always asking, “Any wildlife??” Plus it was adorable! Especially when it scampered away with it’s little white cotton tail!

This hill (not a mountain by Arizona standards, I asked) was used to supply gravel for a few years, which is why it looks scorched like that. That’s just where they dug out the black gravel from, according to Steve who works at the KOA (and who filled up my propane tanks and put them snugly back into their compartment for me!). I said, "I was wondering if the hand of God came down and grabbed a piece of the mountain" and he just said, "No." :-)

For those of you who have been reading along for a while, here is another “hole in the sky picture” which I promptly texted to Liz and wrote “Hole in the sky.” She wrote back, “I saw a hole in the sky the other day and thought of you.”

Then I texted her the next one and said, “Vulva in the sky.” (ok, sideways vulva in the sky!)
